ABOUT THE PASTORS

Hi,

We are the pastors of Celebration Centre Nelson.

We have been part of Celebration Centre Church for  20 years.

We are the parents of the four most beautiful children in the world (true!) aged between 10 and 16. Jared, Kyle, Jamie and Brittany.

Celebration Centre Nelson is part of Celebration Centre movement of churches based in Christchurch.

We are so blessed to belong to a wonderful church family here in Nelson and be part of an extended family of churches throughout New Zealand and the nations.

SO WHY NELSON?

Brett was born in Christchurch and Tania was born in Taranaki. How these two met is another story but how they got to Nelson is where we’ll start.

A group of people in Nelson were meeting regularly in Stoke and were connected through the Acts 29 school to Celebration Centre homechurch in Christchurch. They very much believed Celebration Centre to be their home but requested Pastors be sent to oversee what was happening here.

Murray knew that Brett and Tania, who were on the pastoral team in Christchurch, had a heart to plant out someday, in God’s timing. He approached them to pray about Nelson.

“Who wouldn’t want to move to sunny Nelson! But we had experienced running ahead of God before and were in no way inclined to do that again, especially with a young family. We sought God over a period of months and He confirmed to us it was His plans”

Interestingly enough both Brett and Tania had strong links with the region. Brett used to travel to Nelson in his off season at the freezing works to stay in Motueka – a time to play hard! Then when he got saved he was baptised in the Motueka river.

Tania as a teenager spent her summer holidays staying with relatives in Motueka and remembers asking God if she could live in Nelson.

“We have been here 7 years now. It feels so good to be planted where God wants you and to get our roots down here in Nelson. The people who are part of Nelson Celebration Centre are wonderful and it really is such a blessing to call them family. We are here for life and believe God wants us to labour and build with the generations to come in mind.”
